On December 5th, the Broward County Commission took action to make sure that no one is discriminated against when they try to buy or rent a home.

The Board unanimously voted in favor of "adding veterans or service member status, lawful source of income, victims of dating or domestic violence or stalking" to the Broward County Human Rights Act.
"Those who serve our nation should never be denied housing based on their veteran status" - they said -  "And we have a responsibility to protect those fleeing from domestic violence by allowing them access to shelter and a new start.  This amendment to the Human Rights Act is a critical step in making sure we have full housing equity for all our residents".

"I was proud to join my colleagues in unanimously approving it" - said Beam Furr, County Commissioner of District 6 -  "We are dedicated to providing fair treatment to our veterans".

Beam Furr is now also Mayor of Broward Cunty.
