About the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit that took place in Fort Lauderdale on December 14th and 15th 2017 ...

The most important thing of this year was that the Mayors of the four Counties di Broward, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, and Monroe joined together to sign Compact 2.0, which reaffirmed a comprehensive regional agreement to tackle climate change. This was the second regional action plan on climate change.  A regional commitment not only to reduce greenhouse gases, but also to offer practical solutions to sustainability.  The topic they focused on this year was the "Business of Resilience".

The discussion has shifted from the theoretically speaking of climate change to address the practical ramifications of how climate change will affect issues such as future economic development, infrastructure, property values and insurance.

There were 650 participants at the Summit.

It means that people are more and more attentive to these topics especially if you talk about how big hurricanes could affect Florida again (and this year we have been hit personally in large quantities and in very large areas) and on some factors that affect all very close, for example, the increase in Insurance on homes and every apartment and that here are mandatory, but also another issues such as infrastructure, economic development and real estate values here are taken very seriously.

We are now waiting to see how these topics, which are essential for all the inhabitants of south-eastern Florida, will be dealt with practically on the ground.
