VINITALY AND THE CITY - THE OFF - SHOW EVENT FOR TRUE CONNOISSEURS

"Vinitaly and the City" is the off-show Vinitaly event and the second edition of an event dedicated to all lovers of good food and fine wine held in the “Palazzo della Gran Guardia” a Verona on Sunday and Monday 6 & 7 April from 17.30 to 23.00.

Verona, 3 March 2014 - An eagerly-awaited appointment well-worth visiting after the main show to end the day on a happy note in good company: “Vinitaly and the City” is the evening event that Vinitaly organises in the heart of the city of Verona at Palazzo della Gran Guardia in the evening on 6 and 7 April. A truly elegant setting ensuring a wealth of delightful and unusual proposals thanks to an impressive selection of over 300 Italian wine labels and typical products of refined quality available for tasting by enthusiasts and connoisseurs.

Here  the visitor can enjoy the chance for closer contacts with the excellence of Italian local areas.  Zafferano glasses will be raised to savour the wines selected by Gambero Rosso and Verona Wine Top of Verona Chamber of Commerce, for the rosé wines taking part in the National "Rosé Wines of Italy" Competition and the selection from the wine competitions followed up by the Chambers of Commerce of Novara, Turin, Alessandria and Asti thanks to the collaboration of Unioncamere Piemonte. This year, thanks to the Durello Wine Consortium, a large sparkling wine area will be set up, offering visitors the chance to taste this young and different sparkling wine with a “volcanic” character.

And not only the top names in wine at “Vinitaly and the City”.  The curtain also opens on haute cuisine, with live cooking that promises to astonish even the most refined palates. Well-known chefs will be busy in the kitchens preparing gourmet dishes: Pasquale Palamaro of Indaco, the Restaurant of Regina Isabella Hotel in Ischia, and Salvatore Bianco of Comandante, the restaurant of the Hotel Romeo in Naples.

Visitors in the Loggia of Palazzo della Gran Guardia, inspired by the Ideas Factory, can experience two evenings of culinary pleasure between sweet and savoury, hot and cold dishes. Tastings include delicious fingerfood highlighting the special features of Italy's culinary tradition synonymous with genuineness. Unusual combinations will come to the fore in delicious pasta dishes prepared by these chefs using apples from Belfiore.

There will be a wide selection of  Lattebusche fresh and mature cheeses and tempting tastings offered by the Trentino Wine and Flavour Routes, presenting regional gastronomy offering of delicious cheeses naturally accompanied by "speck" as well as tasty "spaetzl" served with smoked trout  and marinated trout.

Meggiolaro proposes high-quality, hand-made products for people with a sweet tooth, such as Domori  chocolate beans made exclusively with the most highly-prized varieties of cocoa. 

Surgiva is the official mineral water of the event.

All this and much more at "Vinitaly and the City". The entrance ticket costs 15.00 euros and allows visitors to combine four different tastings of choice between wine and food.

A not to be missed event for an all-round sensory experience.
