Normally it is thought that fairs are only for large groups. Termoli’s success is the proof that a well-planned participation can bring results that go beyond expectations.

Thanks to its strategic position, “with its feet in water”, Termoli has all it takes to be a tourist attraction with great potential, unlike many other locations in that area.

Termoli is a beautifull fishing town on the Adriatic coast of Italy. The old town, or Borgo Antico di Termoli, stands within ancient fortifications. Inside these walls, pastel-colored houses line narrow streets. Also here are Termoli Cathedral, with intricate mosaic floors, and the 13th-century Castello Svevo. Nearby, the Belvedere Tower offers views of the harbor. Termoli is also known for its wonderfull sandy beaches such as Rio Vivo.

A well-planned participation in a major international event, such as Bit, can be the solution to attract tourists from all over the world, as Remo Di Giandomenico, APT Commissioner, said: “We decided to return to Bit 2019 since last year we noticed a direct relationship between our presence and an increased interest of the players. In the first 6 months of 2018, we had about 18 thousand more visitors, which for a small business as ours, it means an increase of about 50%.

Visitors come especially from Northern Italy – Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, and also Basilicata – and from abroad. Denmark recorded a significant presence, but also North America (USA and Canada), Asia, and even Korea.

“For our presence at Bit 2019 – added Di Giandomenico – we will focus on enhancing the value of the environment and landscape, which revolves around the relationship between sea and hills. Our offering will include experiential tourism, such as cycle tourism, excursions and pilgrimage routes, in particular the one connected to the Monastery of Sant’Elia a Pianisi, where St. Pio had his first mystical experience. We will also present initiatives dedicated to the Orthodox and Eastern world, with which Termoli has a long-lasting history that dates back to the 12th century. We also are thinking about involving some celebrities from this area.”
