The Fiat 2800 Torpedo at Milano AutoClassica - Fiera Milano (Rho)

Very few of the 1948 Fiat 2800 torpedo specials remain but the one owned by Fondazione Fiera Milano is back at Milano AutoClassica, the vintage and classic car show that will be running at Fiera Milano (Rho) from 24 to 26 November.

Fiat manufactured the Fiat 2800 from 1938 to 1944. Five cars were built in the 6-seat torpedo version, registered by the  Minister of the Interior, and became the state automobiles for both the Fascist leaders and, after the war, for the first  Presidents of the Republic of Italy. It was also the car used by King Vittorio Emanuele III for his escape from Rome to Pescara.
However, the automobile owned by Fondazione Fiera Milano is a truly special model: after the war ended, Fiat, which still  had some of the 2800 chassis in the factory, decided to appoint the Turin-based Ellena body shop to assemble three  torpedoes with a more modern livery, and it completely changed their bodywork. These three unique cars – customised
to carry elite passengers – were registered in 1948. One of them was then bought by the Fiera Milano organisation and  used for accompanying heads of state, ministers and many other famous people to and from the Fiera Campionaria.
The presence of this car at the show also represents a sign of the direction that Fondazione Fiera Milano has taken  to completely restore the vehicle in order to bring joy to all fans in this sector with an even more beautiful,  elegant and reliable car. For this purpose, Fondazione has availed itself of the services of Marietti Cars Garage  in Pero (MI).
